There is widespread consensus as to the need for profound and drastic change in education. There are numerous important issues that are notoriously absent from formal education programs at all levels, as well as the development of self-awareness and community building. Connection to nature, mindfulness, wellness, are just a few of the many topics that are of paramount importance in the development of future educational programs and that are not as prevalent as they should be in school and university curriculums.
The still prevalent pedagogy is one where learners are passive recipients of their education, as opposed to what is known to be absolutely essential, that learners are at the center of any educational process and that they become active protagonists in co-creating and sharing the learning process.
